FAQ-27

The following is a question related to JCP&L. For a given hour for a given day, why does the sum of the historical hourly load data by customer class under the “Historical Load Profiles” on the Additional Data page not equal the total BGS-RSCP Eligible Hourly Load found on the Monthly Data page?

The historical hourly load data by service class found in the JCP&L “Historical Hourly Load by Class” file contain more than just BGS-RSCP service classes and thus, when summed, will not equal BGS-RSCP Eligible Hourly Load. Please see JCP&L’s Tariff Sheets available on the BGS Proceeding page of the BGS Auction website for service classes that fall under a Rider BGS-RSCP tariff and for service classes that fall under a Rider BGS-CIEP tariff. Further, please note that JCP&L’s load profiles are not reconciled to adjust for actual losses and profiling differences with actual loads nor do they necessarily contain all service classes. Hence, the sum of profile loads will also not equal total retail load.

Generally, the load data on the BGS Data Room is at the wholesale level.  All hourly load data series include applicable transmission as well as distribution losses.  However, hourly load data must be adjusted by the Hourly De-Rating Factors to achieve settlement loads. Hourly De-Rating Factors are used for settlement purposes per PJM’s implementation of its marginal loss methodology. For information about PJM’s implementation of its marginal loss methodology, please contact PJM.
